Default Y-Pipe vs H-Pipe vs X-Pipe

I know the Camaro/Firebird comes standard with a y-pipe. Didn't the 1999-2004 Mustang GT come with an H pipe or X pipe?

What are the advantages and differences of going to an H pipe or X Pipe? Where can they be purchased at? What are some of the gains you'll see?

I think it was probably clearance for our cars...Mustangs are routed differently underneath. If you have LT's then some gains are there with X or H...most do it for sound.

X pipe or H pipe always means a dual exhaust.

2.5" or 3" dual exhaust will obviously outflow our stock or even crappy aftermarket 3" single....now a proper Y pipe with the 4" exhaust system is an option....usually better ground clearance, cheaper, goes over the axle and sounds about 90% as good.

I have one on my LT1. Car sounds straight nasty for a 140k mile bolt-on LT1. LTs, 3 inch x-pipe, dumped dynomax bullets...

I like that color. Car does sound pretty good...for an LT1.

Did you have the H pipe or X pipe?

Go to www.drgas.com Read their info on H, X, dual exhaust and so on. I used their universal "x pipe" kit and loved it. Like a previous post, fab your own system. Not hard at all.
