LS6 Intake: Rear Vacuum Connection Repair (pics)
I'm in the middle of an intake swap. I found a good deal on an LS6 intake with a damaged rear connector for the AC vents, brake booster, and MAP sensor. It's the same connector that's on the existing LS1 intake.
Honestly - I should have picked up that deal on Amazon - but I didn't hear about that till I already picked this up.
They pivot a little an have some sort of o-ring. Is it possible to pull one off without destroying it and swapping them out?
How does it come apart? I looked inside - and it wasn't apparent.

I apologize if i may have mislead you, the last time I saw one of these vacuum trees off is back in 2001. I was trying to help you out.
sjsingle1, if they do not quarter turn out then lets help this guy out and let him know how to swap them instead of just putting in a statement that I am wrong

Fix the damaged intake with hardware store parts
Find a 1/8" strait barb fitting and file one end strait. You can also use some 1/8" metal tubing, but its not as common. Drill out the broken fitting base the same OD as your tube/barb. Slide the new tube in and JBweld a seal. Ziptie the MAP down
Fixed in under an hour for <$10
You will pay hell trying to get the fitting out of the LS1 intake. Most successful method Ive seen was to saw the back runner off the intake and pop the retainer off directly, then crumble the fitting out of the LS6 intake. GM does NOT sell the fitting/O-ring individually, so one intake must be scavenged for it

Is that piece supposed to feel kind of loose? This thread just reminded me way back when I had my intake off that it seemed oddly loose, could turn side to side some. Car runs perfect though.

I know this is a old thread, but seeing as how every post in here is that it doesn't come out I figured I'd post that it does in fact, come out.
There are 2 clips on the inside of the intake, you have to remove the throttle body and use something to gently release them. Seen one guy use a 3/4 piece of wood, and another that says they used a piece of tubing the same size as the plugs outer diameter and slipped it over the clips, releasing both at the same time.
This won't do you any good though unless you have a replacement from another intake as GM does not sell these separate.
Either way, it can be removed without destroying the intake.
