a4 owners... what exhaust set-up r u running?
I jus picked up a ws6 and its an auto. Curious to see what is the best sounding or top three recommendations out there..
I have the sweet thunder mufflers on my td setup for the SS but I'm selling the car and now I will be running a 3" catted y true dual setup out the back for the TA.
Need some vids of bolt-on only exhaust set ups.
List your set up also.
Thanks

Best catback overall - Magnaflow. I personally have Borla on mine but it came with the car, I wouldn't have spent the money on that system since its $800+ new.
For headers you have a few options, Pacesetters are good but its better to do stainless right from the start so you could get TSP 1-7/8 in stainless for like $500 and their ORY that is stainless for $150. At the time I ordered mine they weren't stainless yet so I spent the extra money and got 1-7/8 and an ORY from ARH. Expensive but well worth it, hoping to get them installed soon.
Also, its a good idea to do motor mounts with a header install since its a lot easier doing it at the same time. Poly is good (thats what I'm doing) or solid ones are the two choices there. Poly run $50-$65 and solids are around $120

i have XS Longtubes, 3" catted Y, 3" cat-back with an electric cutout and random tech muffler. when its closed the car is very quiet.
However i'm thinking about switching to an ORY and oval tubing in the future

I have the SLP Dual Dual on mine and it doesn't make any noise what so ever. I bought it for when I install my long tubes and ORY because it sounds pretty good and not real loud like a loudmouth when installed with no cats. I'd much rather had gone with the Magnaflow cutback though since it's a tiny bit louder but not too much, a cut-out'll fix that though.

Mines not even worth making a video of now because it sounds like a Camry, the Dual Dual is so quiet with manifolds and cats, but if you can wait till January 1st I can have a video of it with long tubes and ORY where it'll actually sound good and somewhat "loud"

LS1sounds didn't help me at all either really. I will make a video after mine is installed but it won't be for about 2 weeks. I have an idle - very low rev video with just the Borla catback:

Here is a video I found that has Pacesetter long tubes and ORY with no muffler:

Really lovin this setup.
This is from my Z28
Stock headers and Y, with Flowmaster cat-back
From inside the car

Itsprobably the most livable as its not very loud from inside. Nice growl at WOT, but is not the most popular due to the lack of flow. I bought the car with it on though, so I'm not really complaining. Been thinking about selling it soon though and going with a dual setup. Maybe cut off and sell the cats, then do 2.5 or 3" into a x, then bullets and dump before the axle?

I had a Magnaflow catback on my LT1 and I loved it! Will most likely be putting Magnaflow on my new ride (LS1).
They have soundclips on their website, in case you're interested:

Pacesetter LT's, ORY, SLP Dual/Dual and QTP electric Cut-out. Sounds awesome with the cam. Great tone around town cruising, gets louder with more throttle and small children and women hide when the cutout gets opened

I have stock manifolds so far, (Qtps later) gutted cats, stock y pipe, with 3" SLP Loudmouth 2 muffler. Its realy loud on a cold start, very loud on the interstate you would have to turn your radio way up to hear it, sounds good though, but to loud, cops always look when I ride by. Very easy to bolt on, just rattles a little not enough to that its to noticable. Magnaflow sounds like a good option i might go with them.
