Default Intake Swap...

My mods are in my signature below; I'm swapping out my LS6 intake for a Typhoon 96mm intake+96mmT.B. I am not starting this thread to argue LS6 vs. Typhoon vs. FAST so please don't try. That topic has been beat to death already.

My question is: Do I need to get a new tune after just an intake swap? Will the increased airflow cause the car to run lean or will the computer compensate by adding more fuel? Should I upgrade injectors? This is a weekend street car (with very limited track use). Heads will be sometime in the next year.

P.S. I will be selling the stock LS6 intake with Throttle Body (reasonable price). If you're interested, send me a P.M.

You will need a tune with an Intake manifold swap. If you've already had a tune with your cam most shops will do "touch-up" tunes for $150-$250 if you go back to your original tuner. Might need new injectors, but you definitely will when you swap heads. Probably safe to get new ones now rather than run out of fuel on the dyno. I went with 42#, price isn't much different than 36# and you always have a little more in them if you need it. Your tuner can adjust the flow rate of them.

Post numbers with that intake when your done.

Thanks for the input.

I am planning on talking to my tuner to see if he'll *lend* me a FAST intake so we can do a side-by-side comparison between the FAST and the 96mm Typhoon on a heads/cam car, on the same day. We'll see though. Hopefully he'll help me out. If not, maybe there's somebody in North Carolina who'd like to lend their FAST intake for a day. I would also like to throw-in the LS6 intake if there's time on the same day.

^^That would be nice to see a back 2 back of the two.

I sent an E-mail with my VIN to Marty Straub with ASC. This was back in 2003, not sure if they provide this information anymore.
