Default Finally got my TSP Headers in...

I finally got my TSP headers w/ GM MLS gaskets in on Friday that I bought off a guy in the classifieds. The day they arrived at my friend's house that I ship my stuff to (I live in base barracks with no shipping address) We left to go underway for a week. So, in the meantime, I went online every chance I got and researched what all I needed for the install. I ordered the new SS TSP ORY, some O2 extensions, an OEM 1LE trans mount and I saw an ad in the classifieds for NIB NGK TR-55 plugs, MSD wires w/ wire protectors, and the guy was also selling Prothane MM already mounted in the clam shells. Once I got back I went over there and picked everything up, came back to my place and unwrapped everything. I have taken a couple pics of the headers w/ ORY and the extra goodies. On Monday or Tuesday I plan on going to the auto hobby shop on base and installing everything. They have air tools, frame lifts, pretty much anything you need.
If anyone wants to give me some extra pointers on the install it would be appreciated very much!

My current mods are in my sig. I already emailed Frost about getting a tune.

Ahhh I envy you with your access to lifts and air tools. Should be a cake walk since you have the mm already in the clam shells honestly. Especially with a lift. I haven't done this peronally myself but have done tons of reading. Passenger side should slide right in and may have to finesse the drivers side some. but with the new mm should be good. Might have to knotch the k-member a hair to slide it in. Other than that with the clearance you gained with the lift I would assume you should have little to no problems. Good luck and get some pics up after your done!

I will definitely post pics up as I go. I am currently uploading them to my computer for what most like to call "teaser pics"
I was going to have a friend help but he won't be getting off work until about 6pm those days.

Here is the 3" Powerstick that I am installing after the ORY

This shows the direction of the airflow to reduce/eliminate the rasp when installing Headers with your GMMG

Keep us posted with how the fitment and install goes. I'm curious to see if you have any issues being these things are hit or miss when it comes to fitting good. The quality looks real nice and I might be in the market for some after they get back in stock.

So sad to see such an awesome set of headers and ORY necked down to a 2.75" single piece of pipe....cut that crap off and get a 4" merge!

I have a 3" powerstick that's going at the end of the ORY. I will have it welded on.. no worries..

BUT, the system necks down to 2.75 to mate with a stock or aftermarket catback system. Seriously man, all that pipe space is going to be necked down to a single 2.75" pipe. I would get a flowmaster merge with at least a single 3.5" outlet.

^^Flowmaster merge isn't stainless, and the merge itself isn't the problem.^^

As large as the merge is, after cutting off that 2.75" piece, you could weld a stock piece of 3.5" stainless on the end, no problem.

That's what I plan on doing.
Well, today went alright. I got the old stuff off, no problem. Passenger side header went in like butter, torqued down, new plugs. Okay, next side... WTF!! I am in the Navy, but I've cussed that much haha.. I had grind the **** out of the K member to get that side in. I finally jacked up on the oil pan, removed the bolt most of the way and VOILA!! in she goes! As I'm tightening the header to the head the last bolt wasn't cooperating. It was time for the shop to close so, I threw everything in my car and I will be back in the morning. $32 for the lift from 930 until 530.. not too bad!

PS I really hope the last bolt wasn't crossthreading cuz it started to go in so easy.

They do that from time to time... I'm guessing #7's last bolt? I made so many adjustments with mine... Sometimes it threaded easy, sometimes I just needed to take a break for a minute.

Lifts.... Oh how I miss living on base.

I would like to hear how the exhaust sounds with the Powerstick. Picked up one but didn't get it in yet. As soon as the snow goes away its going on.

I agree, the merge is half decent, but that single 2.75" piece is unacceptable on such a nice setup!

What is a 'Stock piece of 3.5'?

I meant just cut the original merge back to where it is 3.5" and weld on a 4-6" piece of 3.5" ID stainless, IF you want 3.5" exit pipe. If not, do 3".

I call stainless tubing "stock"

I got videos of the exhaust installed. I didn't have enough time to put the powerstick after the ORY, but the rasp is tolerable for now. Go to Youtube and search SH1ZN1T87 and all my videos will come up.

It's tucked up pretty close to the floor, but every once in a while it will rattle against it so I will adjust it when I get back from leave. I still have to get the Powerstick welded on.

Those headers are a great deal for stainless. I just wouldnt have used those U-bolt clamps. Got to be careful not to over tighten them and crimp the exhaust.
