Default '01 WS-6 spark plug change

Stock engine and manifolds. What kind of torture do I have to go thru to change #6 and #8 plugs? Looks near impossible for me to get my meat hooks down there.....

It's not fun... You probably have to take off the coils.

3/8" swivel extension, removing coil packs/unbolting them and moving them out of the way, and a lot of patience. After the first time it's cake.

Sounds like fun! Unfortunately, I seem to be less patient these days. Thx for your responses!

Take the coils off and it's not that bad.

take the coil off, get a spark plug socket on it, and use a wrench to turn the spark plug socket. Once you know how, its easy as hell man. I used to do it all the time when my car was under warranty still and I had to remove my n2o kit before taking it in lol

EDIT: you have the rail for the coil packs on that year, so remove the whole rail.

Thx for the tips. I'm installing Delco Iridiums. Should be okay?

I used NGK's rather than AC's.

Lots of good advice here. I strongly recommend accessing the #8 Plug from underneath the car. Good luck.

It sure looks like #8 is gonna be a bitch. Even with coils removed I'm not sure I can get back there. Haven't looked from underside yet, but doesn't look like much room that way either. Should have ordered wires too. Oh well, could get 'em locally if necessary. Diving in Saturday.....

Best way is to take the coils and bracket off (which is a pain when the AIR tubing is still in the car) and number 8 plug has always been easiest for me to do from the under the car. Adding headers and getting rid of the AIR system makes it much easier to do!

It's a very easy process, or at least it was for me, I just disconnected my air tube and took all my spark plug wires and they were all easy to get to, I had to go underneath for 1 or 2 of them but it was really easy, took about an hour to do

Been working on diesels for almost 40 years and I still hate going under the hood of my own car.....

i got all of them without taking off the coil packs, just #8 from the bottom, make sure you have a swivel extension, i think it took me 4-6 hours over 2 days.

Take the coil packs off, take the air line off and to get to number 6 and 8 put your arm flat with your elbow above the AC condenser and reach to the back and you should be able to get 6 and 8 out easily. Get beer for during also

Takes me bout an hour to r/r plugs. But first time I swapped plugs in a ls1 fbody was 2000. Gets easier every time. Remove coils packs. All can b accessed from the top. I've never had to go under for plugs
