You should be able to hit 400rwhp pretty easy with those heads stock and a relatively mild cam. I just went through the same debate. I ended up just having a valve job done on the heads and having them milled .0030 to bump the compression. My particular combo should make at least 420rwhp. I will have numbers in a couple weeks once I get it all together.

Home-porting mine set me back a week's worth of evenings and under
$50 for the electric die grinder and long shank burrs. But I can't claim
to have made great gains, just that I didn't screw anything up.

I agree. I did very slight porting on mine as well. The area behind the valves seemed to have the most imperfections in the casting.
