Default Lid Or Cone on Throttle Body?

Ok so i heard tale of people just straight putting a cone on their throttle body. what are the ups and downs to this vs a regular whisper lid? and how would that work with the MAF?

Hes talking about putting a cone filter on the throttle body instead of using the lid type setup our cars use.

First problem with that is, where's your MAF gonna go?

O ok that makes sense. Well you can go with a speed density tune and eliminate the MAF setup. you will have no gains over this and probably lose hp. The lid is a great setup with the right performance parts. Ex: F.T.P 104 lid, TSP 100MM MAF w/ smooth bellow is a great setup.

ok actually i correct myself, it is a cone style filter attatched to the MAF and place right behind the WS6 Hood Cowls, i just saw the picture i was thinking of, but i guess the question still stands, what are the gains if any from having the air run throughthe cone filter behind the cowls, or through the lid?

Nope a GOOD SD tune will make more everytime

The second part of your statement I agree with.... It is exactly what I run but if I was trying to eeek out every last HP I would go SD....
