Default Under Drive Pulley

Hello all I am considering installing a 25% UNDER DRIVE PULLEY and probably the overdrive alt pulley. I have searched and not much has came up on this. Basically is it worth the money for the power you would gain if any? could this cause any other problems? I would like some opinions on which brand is best and so ? thanks for any input!

I recently put an asp on with no overdrive pulley, I'm an auto car with a decent sized cam and have no charging issues. If you got that extra cash go for it, every little bit helps. I'm trying to break into the 400s without tearing back into the engine so I bought one.

ASP is good, I ran that in my TA and picked up roughly 7rwhp with it. Powerbond/SLP has a raised lip to prevent belts coming off, that's nice to have for piece of mind also.

Same answer as CustomX, except that I have a March pulley.
Most times, you won't need the alternator pulley, as the ordinary charging rate works just fine.

There have been several threads with people having problems with the ASP pulley. How often those occurrences are I don't know. I went with the SLP/powerbond pulley when I did all my engine work so I can't say for sure how much power I gained if any from it.

I have had three different pulleys. I like the ASP better. Some times out of stock, but to me worth the wait. Last time they were out i called the shop where they are made and had one in no time.

Unless you have every other HARD part maxxed out (h,c,I,Bolton) the pulley isn't worth it...sure you might get 5rwhp, but for the money I don't think...also if a pulley was that big of a gain I'm sure the engineers would have run 25% under driven..I'm just saying it effects charging system no matter what pulley you put on it

I have a powerbond ud. Only problem I had was when I had all of the accessories turned on the alternator wasn't charging the battery enough at idle. I switched the alt pulley to an OD and fixed the charging problem until I killed two new alternators while dyno tuning. I guess at high rpms with a OD alt pulley it was too much for the alternator. Switched to a truck alternator with the stock alt pulley and did the Big 3 and fixed the problem. No charging problems anymore.

OP, I run a Powerbond...but the ATI is the best pulley to buy.

wildcamaro: do you even run an under-drive pulley? You seem to be very knowledgeable on things you don't have or even really know how they do work on any given car...just my 02 from what you've been saying lately.

You cant pass judgement on a part unless you either own it or know someone that has one or have dyno graphs. You cant just post your opinion. I post so much because I have either ran these parts or know people who do. You wouldnt say a restaurant sucks if you or your friends never went there right?

Yea I guess your right...i mean a pulley picks up power no doubt...I would just rather save towards something like heads or something bc i dont like the idea of the effects on the charging system. I like this forum bc you see a lot of opinions and lot of different points of view that I wouldn't have otherwise...you are entitled to your opinion like I am...no big deal

You have no experience with this product so you're basically talking out of your ***. You never owned or used it.

This man has used the product for 8 years and says it works fine for him, as many others have claimed.

Who's opinion would you take for it?
