Default ? about what i believe is a coolant crossover

i took off my intake today and when i removed it i noticed there was 2 pinched off lines on the back of the engine.
there is one in the front and it goes from head to head and in the middle it tees and goes into the radiator and there is also one in the rear but it seems to almost be welded shut should that be that way?
I am assuming that it is a coolant passage to go from head to head but i just wanna know if someone rigged this thing together i would like to get it back to right

Sounds like someone tried to do a homemade ls6 coolant line setup. If it doesn't leak id leave it alone

^^^ your right. Instead of using the little block off for the back of the heads , it seems they modified an ls1 coolant conecter and pinched it shut so that it's blocked.. Do you have a ls6 intake? That's the only reason to do that mod so you don't have to hack up your ls6 intake..

I'd rather hack up an LS6 intake...the LS1 steam tubes are superior to the LS6 style tubes and block offs. better cooling to the rear cylinders.

I'd take the fins off the bottom just to be safe. You wouldn't want to line everything up and find out your ls6 won't sit flush.

You only have to cut the fins off it you keep the LS1 style coolant lines that run from back to front. If its just the back and front crossover pieces, there shouldnt be an issue.

I second that, fix it right while you have the intake off, no problems in the long run....

I will be making my own with just some regular rubber lines to flow across front and then one to go across the back, when i put my 102 fast on. I dont like the idea of the ls6 with it blocking off the rear, no fluid flow then obviously. Ive seen guys cut the stock ones where they bolt to the head, and run two like 1/4" rubber lines connected with just hose clamps and never have any issues, which is what i will be doing. clean and simple, and no blocking off coolant flow in the rear.

I installed a kit from KRC for the rear coolant tubes, then ran a 90*-AN to 1/4" barb fitting with about 2' of hose up front.

That kit looks like the front of the engine. I think he is talking about the back and this could work back there also.

Ya, that looks like a bypass for where the TB connection generally is.
