Default coil packs

OK, I just picked up an LS1 this past Saturday. It doesn't have any coil packs with, so I'm going to have to get some. I've noticed GM makes different coil packs for the newer LS2,3, and 7 engines. Is there a particular reason why they're different? Will they work on my LS1? I'm going to be remote mounting them.

Any of them will work for you if you are remote mounting them.

Just get the coil harnesses with them so you will have the correct ones.

Yea the harness is the key...some people sell the coils cheap on the parts classified...the wire harness he is talking bout is the coil harness that is attached to the bracket that holds the coils on vale cover...remote mounts are super clean and look nice, especially if you have nice valve covers! I don't undrstand why vale covers go for $200+ a pair when you can get stOck ones for next to nothin...

Yeah, those are the covers I plan to use. I also plan to run a carb on this engine.

Here's the look I'm shooting for, but with the paint scheme on the sbc below.
