Default Ls1 5.7 or LQ4 6.0

Just bought a 98 camaro z28 with a knocking motor, Got it for a Good deal couldn't pass it up, now i'm having trouble deciding if i should rebuild the Ls1 or just get an 6.0 from LKQ. If i put the 6.0 could i possible run high to mid 12's with just bolt ons??

you can run low 12s if you want with just bolt ons with either engine..remember though the iron lq4 has some weight on the aluminum ls1..guees its just a personal preference thing..the lq4 may be able to take a lil more abuse though than the ls1 being that its a lower compression engine leaving room for error, and its an iron block which will handle the abuse.

Ok, I figured the lq4 would be the beefier motor.plus more cubes. that extra weight is the only thing that gets me but I see people running good numbers with both of em. Thanks man.

I say rebuild your 5.7 for the learning curve, sense you already have it. You could possibly find out the 5.7 just may need new bearings and rings.
Good ring and bearing kit $200-$300?
Besides if you rebuild the 5.7 you know it's a fresh motor.
i really have a hard time believing there is so many low mileage 6.0s out there, but yet when comes time to look for one they are expensive or becoming more rare!
My .02
Ps
Build a 6.0 when your ready to get serious.
