Default 98 ls1 Computer vs 99+

I'm getting ready to get my 98 Camaro tuned but I've heard I would have to get a computer out of a 99 and newer Fbody. Is this true because I really don't want to have to do this. What are the big diffrences in these two computers. ??

You don't have to. It will make it easier on the tuner but if he is competent it shouldn't effect the tune. I have a 98 that is cammed.

You do not need to change computers. Though the 99+ computer is supposedly easier to tune, there are plenty of fast 98 F-bodies still running the 98 computer. One downside to the 98 is that you can't make changes on the fly... meaning if you're using HP Tuners, your changes have to be made while the engine is not running. I've heard the 99+ computers are faster, but I don't know for sure... perhaps someone else will chime in. Do you have to change your computer to a 99 & up to have your car tuned? NO.

You can delete anything you want to.
The idle/off idle settings available on the 98 are not as exacting as the later years. You'll never notice the difference.
