Default Victor Jr. intake manifold cracked!

I was cleaning it up for my current build project and found this. Has anyone seen this before? 4 of the runners are cracked.

May try consulting Edelbrock tech about it, since that shouldn,t happed. As far as repair goes, it could be tig welded. Crack must be v-grooved & area perfectly cleaned.Tig weld must be hot enough to properly take & not fail, which can be assisted by a mix of helium with the argon gas.

That is a rather odd place for a crack. Not much load stress there.

Does it go all the way through? If not, I would probably just throw some epoxy in there and go.

The engine was a completely stock 5.3. It looks like the casting was actually milled paper thin on the opposite side where the gasket groove is at. I have always used edelbrock stuff because of the high quality but this intake manifold has me wondering...

I wasn't even going to try, it was a casting issue. lol

It was torqued to spec with brand new Fel Pro gaskets and I noticed it about a year after the fact.

I have had the intake for at least 6 years so i know that Edelbrock is going to say screw me about any kind of warranty. I will just weld it. Probably wouldn't be an issue N/A but it's a turbo truck.

found this last night on my 89 caprice turbo 5.3L. It developed a loud knock noise. Found a fresh broken piece from the intake, smashed on top of the piston in #7.
