There is no comparison. The Hooker muffler will easily make 8-12 rwhp over a stock SS muffler....

Is the difference really that much?? Should I put that on before I get the car tuned, or doesn't it matter

I would. Why are you tunign your car now? I'd save for headers AND the tune. The stock tune will do you fine until then, it's been fine for me.

You won't need to retune for a catback alone, the PCM will make the proper adjustments on it's own....

I've personally seen the Hooker catback make 18 rwhp on a stock A4 Z28. On my car, I went from the Loudmouth (no muffler at all) to the Hooker catback, the HP stayed the same and I gained 7 ft lbs of TQ....Going through the Hooker muffler..

I am getting it tuned because I changed rear gears to 3:73 when my original axle self destructed last year. I want my speedo right and I would rather have a pro do tuning than buy a predator. I cannot find anyone locally(Minneapolis) that will change my speedo settings without charging for a tune. If anyone knows a cheap way to get my speedo accurate I may skip the tune for now and put my money into other things.
