Default Which cat back?

So I love the sound of the slp loudmouth and also the spintech 3in catback can't make up my mind on either. I've never heard either with headers and I will be doing headers when I get a new cat back . Help me decide which to get and the downfalls of each thanks

I dont know anything about the spintech, but the loudmouth is horrid. Awesome on stock manifolds/cats, horrible on LTs/ORY. I wouldn't run that exhaust even if you paid me. I would def pick a cat-back with a muffler on it. I love magnaflow, but it is on the quiet side.

I agree the loudmouth sounds great with stock manifolds and would probably be ok with LT's and catted Y-pipe but it sounds terrible with ORY and even worse if you install a cam. I just put a Corsa muffler in mine now and it sounds great.

I like the lm1. Its real easy to keep quiet with a manual and really opens up at wot. I have it with long tubes, and the off road y. It was waaay too quiet for me on stock manifolds.

I've heard the Spintech mufflers don't flow too well.. If you decide on the SLP LM, i would DEFINETLY incorporate the Flowmaster Y Collector in your Y-Pipe, that will definetly cut down on some of the rasp, at least it did for me when I had an SLP LM catback.

When I do this I will most likely have a catted y. How bad is the flow for the spintech ? And I love loud but is everyone saying stay away from lm1 if eventually I will cam the car?

The only experience Ive had with Spintech directly was on my '90 LX Mustang, it was very loud.. I had Spintech Pro Streets here is a youtube video of it so you have an idea.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0t8P4JWc0U Alot of the Mustang guys complained about the flow being horrible, there is also a thread i read SOMEWHERE about the F-Body catback gaining almost 15hp with an open cutout vs closed Spintech.. Sorry about all the Ford verbage, it's all the experience I've had with those mufflers, even if you had a catted Y i'd still weld in the Flowmaster Y Collector if you go with LM1, it will be raspy im sure... Hope this helps.

Its not loud at all with some high flow cats welded in. Thats why I took mine off. I hated the stockish idle. If you like loud get the lm1. They sound awesome cammed. I'll post a video once I install the Tv2 cam.

Here is long tubes / ory / lm1

If you do go LM go LM2,but my experience with LM2 and headers is that its really loud but still sounds mean..if I do another exhaust though I'd go true duals with an X pipe and sweet thunders!!

I really wanted to do . True duals and have an x pipe and dynomax bullets sitting in the garage. Just recently started working 12 hour days I won't have the time to do it and heard that you'd have to pay an outrages amount for labor on duals

I figured the catback route would be a little cheaper .

Theyre both really loud with headers no matter what. I think spintechs sound awesome but Lm is just obnoxious. Why dont you just do a borla/magnamouth it'll sound good

I don't care for the Borla that I have. I think the Magnaflow with the quad tips gets my vote. I don't care for the Borla tips, or its sound. It was on the car when I bought it though. I have heard a LM exhaust before and I guess I am just more of a tone guy. About 10yrs ago I didn't care. If it was loud I liked it, but not as much now. The only bad part is that the only Magnaflows i've heard were on youtube vids.

I put Hooker cb on mine. A little drone at cruising, but has a deep tone any other time.

This^^^ lol, but I'm a little biased.
The best thing to do is head to the track and try and hear some setups in person.

Perfect example is the perception that GMMG is the best sounding catback for Fbodies...minor detail is that it has to have cats or some type of muffler in the IPipe when running headers to maintain most of the bass. The Y pipe merge is also important if you are not running an XPipe or true duals.

I test drove a WS6 a few years ago, it had GMMG from straight pipes after the headers and imo sounded like crap.

In person is a whole different thing that little sound clips over the internet.

i think im leaning towards the spintech, i dont want it just loud i want that muscle tone and the spintech has it. i just also like the lm1 just kinda scared to go that route cuz ive never heard lm1 with headers, or a cam if i eventually do that.

I also have the option of keeping my flow masters and just adding the headers and y. I like the sound of the flow master it's just a little mellow and quiet for me once I add the headers it may open up alittle any suggestions?

I'm telling you man. If you are going to run a catted y pipe your going to be disappointed if you don't get a GMMG. I run mine with an ory but thats what I like.

This is after i installed the cam with stock manifolds and stock cats.
My car definitely has the classic muscle car sound with the GMMG on stock manifolds with the cam. Some people like loud and raspy though. All preference.
I'm throwing on my Lt headers this weekend with catted y pipe if you can hold out, i'll have a video up by next monday after the tune.
