Default F body x-pipes still sound like Y pipes

is it just me? or do most F-bodies with x pipes still sound not so much like x pipes?

and i'm wondering why mine actually sounds like an x pipe setup. maybe because i moved the left side more inward to make them more equal length going into the X pipe and kept them equal length under the axle all the way out the back?

this is an old as video before i put the tips on.

and this was a few years ago with dumps

Every exhaust setup you hear over the comp will all sound alike, honest my duals kick my y pipe into another world, rasp is gone and has a nice deep/ killer tone. There is not a chance any of the 5 catbacks come close to my duals, not to mention the power gain over the y pipe, i will never own another y pipe period

I have had countless f body owners ask me what my exhaust setup is, and they always say that sounds like a bbc car, loud exhaust is hard to pick up any tone from a comp,

What is your set up Bob? A good friend of mine has dumped duals,x pipe with dynomax bullets. Sounds awesome but is little loud for daily driving.

I don't care for duals on 4 th gens. I don't think they sound better, nor do they fit good and usually look like poop.

My true dual x pipe setup sounded nothing like a y setup, at all. I had 3" dumped under the car using magnaflow 4x9s. It sounded like sex.

hey guys getting ready to do truel duals over the axle on my car, going to go with dual 3" setup running from my TSP 1 7\8s. as far as x pipes go is there really any difference? i found a cheap universal one on ebay for $30 shipped heres the link for it http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pro-Series-3...15658d&vxp=mtr. i have 4foot of leftover 3" aluminized piping and 3 180 degree mandreal bends. i also am trying to decide what bullet mufflers i want, but the OPs setup sounds nassssttttyyy with the borlas. i will be messaging him for more details.

I've ran several different types of setups. I'm currently running a xpipe into dual SLP Loudmouth 2 mufflers dumped and dummy tips. By far the best sounding exhaust I've ran. The tone is so smooth and progressive throughout the entire RPM range and just sounds freakin mean wide open, yet still mellow enough to cruise around in daily. I'll always run an Xpipe myself.

MikH338, that is the same x-pipe that i used. It worked very good as it keeps the pipes tight together.

i must be on crack then, cuz the unequal length X pipe setups still sound rough as **** just like Y pipes.

I do love how smooth mine make the power band feel. I think your main problem is running shitty mufflers on the xpipe
