Default Header install gone wrong!

Ok, so I bought a set of pacesetters here from a forum member... Got them and the Y for a great deal, they are brand new he just never put them on. First mistake I made was never asking if they were EGR, I wanted race style. They showed and I saw the EGR tubes but thought o well I can work with that. I went to install them yesterday, and realized my EGR tubes weren't going to line up correctly... I did research and these are 70-2253, which are for a 98-99 ls1, I need 70-2256 lol. Now I am sitting with my car stripped and basically no options. Ugh... I thought about taking them into a shop and having them chop off and weld up the holes but then they would be needed to get re coated.

Just get the block off plates for the header and a expansion plug for your intake

That would look awful though, these are huge tubes, passenger side has a large tube along with the regular one. Might just sell these and try to buy the right ones

If I were u I would just sell them and get ones that were made for ur year it's common mistakes I'm just not a fan of modify parts that u can get without the need in ur case they make the part u need with out modify it just my opinion I'm sure u can sell those headers and get ur money back

I agree, you'll notice quite a bit of extra room when you get rid of the pipeing for that stuff.

unplug the blower behind the left side bumper cover, remove the blower and put in your scrap pile, remove the hose from blower to splitter valve, the valve and pipeing to both sides, and get a rubber plug cap for the vaccum valve to block it off and you just cleaned up your engine compartment.

if your running headers, you'll either be running hi-flo cats or none at all so you really don't need that system except for helping it pass emisions testing. the system pumps air into the exhaust to help the cats burn off excess fuel

Had the same problem, took off a piece of heat shield and made a blockoff plate using the gasket as a template. Also used a freeze plug for the intake, no leaks from either.

Took a whole 5 minutes to solve my 3 day problem lol

nobody is gonna notice the blockoff plates. when the car is haulin down the road.
the plug for the intake is 1 3/8 or 35mm
just tap in the intake squarely about a 1/4in. deep in the egr bore

if you need block offs just to get going... 2 cents can do it. cut the flange end off your air hoses, place a penny over the hole on the header side...plcae the flange you cut off on top of it, bolt it down. blocks are done and at least get the car driveable, not ideal in terms of looks.

i made the same mistake with my headers, but idgaf. i made block off like that when i removed air/egr from my car. they've been in use for over 5 years and do not leak. didn't cost a damn thing to make.
