If I have the LS6 with the ported Stock TB and if I upragrade my MAF to 85 mm would it benefit and get perfomance or I'm just wasting money?

Wasting money.....don't worry about it unless some day you go with a FAST setup.

The stock unit will be good for almost all applications on the stocker. Until you move to a larger motor or going after a max effort 1/4 mile car then you will be wasting money ofr now like BrntWS6 says. Plus you will need a tune if you get it.

Then go for it fella, I was just saying that if you where going to buy one just for a little more bolt on power you'd be pissed off lol. The one thing you may see if improved throttle reponse, that would be it. For that price, get it!!! Especially for future mods, you may go stroker and would benefit then and 1 less thing to worry about.

I would say that is a good deal, I have one and they are the easiest to mess with. Get your tuner to throw in the Z06 MAF table which takes all of 2 seconds. Easy cheesy.

Yep, if your gonna go with a 85mm MAF then the Z06 version is what you want. I have heard the SLP unit is trash & the GM is the easiest to tune with out of all the 85mm options.

Offer him $50.

Don't forget you need a wiring harness adapter for $30 (or make your own with pigtails at $5-9 each, need 3) and a tune.

I saw no gains at the track from mine. No butt dyno results either.

Was his the SLP or some other brand? The GM unit has a built in IAT sensor so the plug is 5 pin instead of 3. Mine is also a truck style, the z06 maf could use the ls1 style plug I didn't research it.

I got my adapter used on ebay for $20. But there were a couple sites that had them on google, I was being as cheap as possible.

Weren't there 2 different z06 MAFs? I think the earlier years used a different one.

I believe so, I think the earlier version was the same plug as the LS1 cars & the newer one needs the adapter. I'd have to do some searching again though to be positive.
