Default spitting oil valve cover

I bought my 2000ss last year and the person before me threw a cam in it and deleted the egr. I noticed on the driver side valve cover behind the last coil pack there is a missing piece in the top of the valve cover. Possibly where the egr pcv was originally located now i might need a valve cover breather? any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Its the PCV hose, The egr goes from the exhaust to the intake manifold.

That's where you PCV line goes.

If its missing the OEM ones are really expensive. I helped a guy out in this thread:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...over-hose.html

The EGR ports are on the exhaust manifolds if you still have the stock cast manifolds or LT's with the EGR provisions. Most LT's don't have them since its commonly deleted.

Look in the pictures from that thread and see if that is the spot your talking about.

If it is, the method I used to fix my PCV lines only cost $12. Only thing is instead of running the line to the catch can yours will go right to the intake.

Hope this helps, if its a different spot that's leaking oil posting a picture will really help.

is the hole on the back of the driver side valve cover threaded?
also, can I just use a valve cover breather(filter)?

No its just a hole,

I wouldn't, I actually took my breathers off and set it back to stock with a catch can, car idles better now. My issue was more of a combination of several things however.

But a very respected person not really in the LSX scene much anymore told me breathers aren't usually necessary until your boosted or spraying a large shot. In these situations the breather helps relieve some of the piston blow by. I have heard of people actually shooting oil out of the dipstick tube because the air has no where to go.

One thing about using a filter back there is the one I had you had to trim it to fit and it wasn't really snug and could get knocked to one side leaving the port partially open sucking un-metered un-filtered air into the motor.

http://www.ws6project.com/user_stor/...pcv-catch-can/

WS6store is sponsor on here and is a great place to get parts.

What you have now is a huge vacuum leak that is throwing everything off. Get it fixed and you'll notice the car will idles much better, and might even run better as the fueling may be getting thrown off.

Why not just fix it, takes 30 minutes to an hour getting the stuff depending on how close the stores are to you and 20 minutes to hook up.

If you have any questions when you hooking everything up feel free to PM me, its really straight forward though.

thanks, another question.
there is another tube coming out of the front of the passenger side valve cover going into the throttle body. can this be deleted or tied into the catch can system?

Are you going to run a sealed catch can or a vented one ?
