Default stock 98 heads question

My cars a 98 and I've been told the stock 98 heads are more restrictive than any other year. If true what's different about the 99 and up stock heads?

Cleaner casting techniques resulting in better quality head castings with less slag in ports...not more than a few hp compared as cast to other year fbodies

Yes, '98 heads had a different casting than the '99+ which is said to be inferior. Also, I believe the intake ports on later heads were machined a little versus the early heads which were left as cast

Yes the 98 heads which are 806 casting don't flow as well as 99+ 853/241 heads.

so if one were to get a set of 241s for cheap and get them mildly worked over would this be a positive step over the stock 98 heads?

If that is your intention get a set of 243 or 799 heads and work them. I got my heads for $250 New.

Nothing you will notice. Also once ported they flow the same as the rest. If anything get some 243's because its a complete waste of time and money to swap an ls1 head for an ls1 head.
