Default Ordering a Lid, do i need Filter?

I am about to order my first mod. A Lid. My car right now has the factory Air box on it, but has a K&N Filtercharger on it already. That is what most people get isn't it? If so , i am only going to order the lid and maybe a cutout.

You won't need a different filter.

I think it's recomended that you use the K&N gasket with there filter, personally I would use a Holley Power Shoot or a Fram filter instead of the K&N. JMO

Ick, I don't like Allied Signal. I'd just use an AC filter if you don't want to use a K&N or Holley.

Ditch the K&N. It lets in all kinds of crap. Go with the stock paper filter. A couple HP is not worth all the crap going into the engine (I found a tiny twig on my MAF screen).

Mine had a K&N for a while. I switched it over to a Fram and have not noticed a loss in power at all. It actually idles a little better now with the Fram vs the K&N. K&N advertises all these gains in horsepower, but they don't give anything. If it were me, I would replace it with a paper filter and try to sell off the K&N. Who knows, might make a few bucks

Yep, I decided a while back to ditch the reusable filter and just go with paper... hell, you can buy a fram filter from Wally World for about $6. When you consider the price of a reusable filter plus filter oil and cleaner (about $60), you could just about change your fram filter 10 times before you see any return on your investment... and by then I can almost guarantee your reusable will look pretty damn haggard.

Not to mention the problems you can have if you happen to over-oil one of those reusables...
