Default Neutral Safety Switch Wiring

Hey Guys,

With my old Gen I motor, I always wired the neutral safety switch as follows: ignition to the switch, then, switch to the starter.

Now that my old engine is long gone, I'm wiring my LS6. I have a lead from the wiring harness to the neutral safety switch, then from the neutral safety switch to ground.

My question is: Can I run a wire directly from my ignition to the starter (bypassing the neutral safety switch)? I'm guessing the lead from the harness to the switch, then switch to ground is the only wiring needed for the neutral safety switch to function properly?

Can anyone clarify? Thanks!
