Default Cutout throwing 02 codes?

Does anyone have DTC issues with running a cutout? I get about 15 miles in with the cutout wide open, then the car starts running like crap. Popping, missing, like all the plugs are fouled. Sometimes it throws 02 codes, sometimes it doesn't. When this happens, I just have to clear the codes if thrown, and disconnect the battery for a minute, and presto, good as new...for another 15 miles. The cutout is a good two feet from the 02 sensors, so it shouldn't matter. Of course, this is a 98 ECM, so maybe I just need to do the repin....any suggestions other than that?

thats should be far enough away from the O2's. that doesnt make any sense. if you could data log it you may be able to point out whats going on

You need 10 times your pipe diameter at least from any O2 sensors to be safe(3" pipe needs 30", 2.5" needs 25") .Are you still running rear O2 sensors? Verify your distances from the O2s and check for any exhaust leak between the O2s and cut-out .

Thanks for the insight guys. I'm thinking maybe I'll just get rid of the whole damn exhaust, magnaflow catback, and cutout. Just throw a race muffler on there, I always leave the cutout open anyway!
