Default Best direct fit high flow cats?

So today my service engine light came on. It read code PO420. Basically my driver side cat it bad or the sensor is bad. I have known the cat had a sliight rattle to it but never had any problem with emissions. I would love to do a LT setup but i am in no position money wise to do so. I know magnaflow, random technologies and stainless works all have good high flows. I like the stainless works the best due to the price plus i get a new y pipe. What is everyone who isnt running long tubes running?

Thanks

What do you mean what would cause them to go bad? Either whoever had the car before me ran it hard or just due to age. The thing is I'm not sure if high flows will require a tune?

Yea true. But I don't see Magnaflow advertising them as true high flows? Plus I am planning on getting a new y pipe. Either the stainless works one or a SLP.

There used to be a Random Tech high flow cats & Y combo
that had much better cat flow than stock, I measured the
cat backpressure once. Those cats were not made to fit
the stock Y but did mate to the stock manifolds, and the
Y was full round. They would not clear my BMR K-member
though they fit OK against the stocker, the problem was
down by the rear mounting box of the K. These cats were
positioned in the stock location and though I don't know
if there's a CARB EO#, they did not look like aftermarket
or out-of-place and would probably not bug a casual eye
inspection. Especially if you let them crust up a little.

Just looked up this combo. Looks really nice. Were you getting any rattling against the stock K member? I am really looking to upgrade the Y pipe. The stock one doesnt seem to be doing anything good other then looking like a rusted pancake pipe.

they could be old but they usually go bad due to something else like lack of maintenance or something else failing causing them to go.

I mean the car only has 50k miles. So maybe it could be from sitting? I'm not sure but either way they are going to be replaced. I'm leaning towards random technologies as I have heard good things about them. Haven't heard anything about the stainless works setup.
