Default Should i get a FM 40 series?

I recently bought a 100 dollar certificate to year one, they dont have anything i really need but i could end up with a decent sounding flowmaster for 40 dollars. Should i get the 40 series?

There is nothing wrong with a 40 series, but it's the crossflow Flowmaster mufflers that people tend to complain about.

IMO, get one with a 3" center inlet/outlet that'll give the best flow.

Get a 1 chamber. I've had 40 series and 1 chambers on the same car and the 1 chamber sounds much better.

i think im gonna do it. Im gonna get whatever size will slip/weld on the easiest to the stock set up! Can i pretty much just remove the stock catback and run the 40 series in its place? Also, what size are the pipes on the stock set up so i get the correct one lol

I agree that the 10 series would be your best option. They will be loud, but still have a great "muscle car" tone and they flow great. People need to get their **** straight before bashing on Flowmaster. Their catback sucks, but their isn't anything wrong with their mufflers.

Don't really understand what your saying! A 40 series @ Year One is $70 , but Jegs has them for $59.99 I dont know why you want to use this muffler, most guys pick they only because of the sound. These are not the best mufflers for F bodys. One problem is the case size 4"x 9 3/4" is too big for placement behind the rear bumper cover. I would do TDs , but I'm assuming your talking a OEM style horizontal placement, it will work. Tell us what your system is.

OK I see your just doing a stock relpacement. If its the 40 sound your after, here is the same thing for about half the money. Go with a VX they are the same thing. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Chamber-Pe...43e50d&vxp=mtr

Exactly.. One muffler gave FM a bad name with this crowd.

The 44 series is pretty loud, but doesn't sound too bad. Hooker Aerochamber is supposed to be one of the best flowing mufflers, also.... Just some options.

Well the good news for those that have to have that Flowmaster 40 the price has come down from a year ago $79 , now its $59.99 But the VX is still nearly half the cost.I believe that flowmaster dropped their price due to competition from VX and Thrush at a budget level exhaust.
