Default California Emissions car in other states?

I have looked EVERYWHERE and cannot get a straight answer for this.. even called the DMV. Nothing.

I live in NJ and have a 'California Emissions Car'.
Do I need to replace my catalytic converters with the 50-state approved parts, or can I use the 49-state versions?
Will I still be able to pass inspection if I use the 49-state converters?

California has the strictest emission laws in the country. Normally a 49 state legal part is legal everywhere except California. If you are really worried, go with the 50 state part.
