Default Incomplete magnaflow cat back install questions

I just got a used magnaflow cat back for my car. It only came with the muffler, tips and over axle pipe. So my quesiton is can I use the stock i pipe with the new over axle pipe? Thats going to requre a weld right? Or should I just not use the new over axle pipe at all and connect the new muffler to the stock one? Will that work? How will this affect power gain and sound? Thanks.

The only way to tell if the stock i pipe and over the axle will work is too set them side by side. bolting the original on will be easiest.

I would recommend just taking it to an exhaust shop and have them fab up a 3inch intermediate pipe to connect everything up for you. Shouldnt cost much and will save you some hassle.

Or you can get the Walker/Dynomax one from Summit for around $50.

Thanks for the few responses. I've decided since I have no extra money to spare at all Im going to just try to connect the new over axle pipe to the stock i pipe and hope it all works out good.

It will work. You can expand the stock I-pipe and/or apply a thick bead to seal it up. Or use a stepped band clamp.
