Default How much different is my car going to sound?

I am in the process of installing my cam (228r/112lsa). I cant wait to get some numbers and drive it. I was just curious if its going to sound much different other than at idle. Has anyone had this exhaust and then went cammed?

Tsp 228R cam
Pacesetter long tube headers
Tsp off road y pipe
Slp lm1 cat-back
Ls6 intake
Slp lid

I was hoping it gets a little louder. I want the idle to sound mean as hell.

Full exhaust w/ LM1 and cam is ridiculously loud and raspy. It's a love/hate combo. But it will accomplish the sounding mean as hell goal you have. There's tons of vids on youtube of similar setups.

Love it until 2,000-2,800ish RPMs, hate it. Then love it again.

That muffler coupled with an off road Y and a cam makes for a pretty raspy loud combo IMO.

I had pretty much the same mods except a 224R cam which is very similar. It was just too loud and especially raspy. I ended up swapping out the LM1 resonator for a magnaflow bullet and it sounds way better. Its still pretty loud but has a nicer tone and almost all the rasp is gone.

So the cam will make it louder through the power band? I really cant imagine it getting any louder at wot. Its easy to control and keep quiet w / 6 speed but wot is ear bleeding loud.

You'd be surprised at how loud LM1 can get. Lol. There used to be a Procharged SS in town that was deafening. You couldn't hear a thing when you were next to it, or a couple hundred yards. Lol.

It'll be really loud and really raspy. But if that's what you like, then you're set. Just keep it out of the 2,200-3,200 range while cruising. Down low should be mean sounding and above that will just be straight loud.

Yeah I only drive the car a few days a week and its very short distance. I love how it sounds now. I just want it to be a tad louder / meaner at idle. My other goals are just to have a 380-400rwh car that drives close to stock. After this ill keep the car how it is then one day step up to a vette.

Sounds best at idle, wot isn't bad just really high pitch and raspy.

But at cruise going down the road in overdrive (especially in the 1800-2200 rpm range) it sounds like a burbling boat.

What makes you think it wouldn't be louder. You are moving more air and fuel, which creates more power (from the extra fuel and air being burned ), and you are holding the exhaust valvle open longer.

In short, bigger bang + longer escape time = more volume

It will sound good at idle, even more shitty from 2000-2500, and decent beyond that.

OP, I have the exact same combo, and it is VERY loud lol. It is raspy at a few points in the power band, but it can be controlled a lot as well. With my HCI setup it sounds like a friggin beast at idle and WOT lol
