Default Just did Urethane motor mounts...have some suggestions.

I have seen write-ups on doing these, they are extremely helpful. But, if you are doing this when installing headers, I would remove the entire motor mount and stand while the headers are out and then change out the mounts. You can then swap the big bolt out and turn it around so it can be removed in the future without having to remove any of the accessories. Even if you are doing this after you have already done headers, you may consider removing the headers instead of removing the alternator and a/c.

Overall it was not too bad, kind of a PITA if you are doing this by yourself, but it can be done. After doing it and seeing the condition of the stock motor mounts, not to mention the sheer size difference, I would recommend everyone do this.

Now, if my stuff comes in from TSP tomorrow, then I can finish this stuff up and get the car back on the road. Just put in some TSP LTs, and SS4000 stall. Can't wait to see how it feels, just need the off-road y, wires, plugs and gaskets to arrive.

I found out the hard way, I did the headers first & my motor mounts were shot but I found this out when the ORY was banging the floor. I left the headers in there, removed the alt. & unbolted the a/c it wasnt too bad because I had a hoist but it wouldve been a lot easier if the headers werent in the way.

Yeah, I kept wondering why they were having all this trouble getting the big bolt back in. It is really easy to get back in when the whole assembly is sitting on the ground.

Did anyone else that did urethane mounts notice the engine raised up some? I would swear mine is 1/2" higher than before. I think I am going to have to get out the BFH to get some clearance for my TSP y, it is almost touching the body on the driver's side, about 6" back from the header. These headers tuck up tight as hell, I love it, clearance for days.

I had the heads out and removed the entire assembly. Did one at a time and it fell right back in place. Much easier than pulling that long bolt out and lining it back up. Pro-thane motor mounts.

I did Prothanes as well. Did the job when I was putting headers on, and unbolted the stand. Seemed like a much easier route, and I guess I was right

Yep, I took my headers back out to do it that way, just because everyone talked about how hard it was to get the holes lined back up.

So what exactly is the advantage to upgrading to the Urethan mounts instead of putting stock rubber ones back in?

I have noticed a little more vibration in the car, but nothing obnoxious. The urethane mounts are stronger and will take more abuse than the stockers.

If you're installing a 4k stall, don't forget an external trans cooler.
