Default Ported TB Question!

Hey everyone so rather than spending an arm and a leg on an aftermarket TB I was thinking of just porting mine.. so i have a few questions

Should i only port the Intake side of the TB (the outermost side)

Any tips or things i should know before doing it?

I was going to use a dremel with which i have many bits to not only port but polish as well..

Am i waisting my time with this? will i notice any gains?

Any input would be appreciated!

If you have ported anything before you should know what to do. Otherwise there are videos on youtube on how to port them.

Port the hump from in front of the blade. Then smooth out the transition to the opening. Don't touch the area where the throttle blade sits in the closed position, or u will have idle issues. If you want to be thorough hit the area behind the blade and grind off the excess length of the blade screws. If you are feeling adventurous there is more you can do, but the main thing is the hump in front of the blade.

Can't speak from personal experience but most people say they notice a slight improvement usually from the car having a bit more pep when you press down on the gas, faster response time I suppose. Gains will be minimal, no more than 5HP tops.

Don't modify the throttle stop unless you have an ohm meter, grinding the stop will put the TPS out of range and throw engine codes

I didn't have any issues with the 2 LS1s I have owned or the countless tbs I ported for others. Just make sure you don't grind so much that the blade opens too far.

I am pretty sure there is a thread or how to somewhere on porting/polishing. I would google "how to port polish LS throttle body".
