Default 100mm maf question

hate to ask a stupid question but would it be ok to run my normal 3'' piping have a step up, to a 100mm tsp maf with the screen then step down to the size of my TB.

I am trying to get away from running a SD tune for my boost build. I would rather not have to buy a intake and TB.
thanks for any help or advice that can be shared.

Can you use a ZO6 MAF? What size TB do you have?

You can do it but don't expect gains from a 100mm maf. You will only see increased airflow unless everything is 100mm.

I have a stock TB, I am planning to go with a MAF tune for my boosted build. My tuner said to go with the 100mm MAF for tsp. He said it would do the job I did a little reading and saw that a screen was needed for ease of tuning along with a connector to plug it in. If I am missing anything please let me know. I have a stock TB with ls6 intake, I might go to a bigger TB later but not at the moment.

Beware the pinning of the adapter harness. My racetronix was pinned backward. The fix is easy, you can find it by searching for my threads.

IMO, I don't see a point in going from 3" to 4" then back to 3" again. Just run a ZO6 MAF for a stock size TB. That 100mm MAF is a lot bigger than you think. The 102TB too for that matter. And if your tuner has issues with the ZO6 MAF, he needs to revisit the book of "scaling exercises."
