Default Headers on lowered F body

Been out of F bodies for the last 8 years. Recently picked up a '01 SOM Formula Firehawk. Car is lowered and I would like to put exhaust on it.

First question is what headers and y pipe will give me acceptalbe clearance?

Second question is what size header primaries? 1 3/4 or 1 7/8. I will be putting a cam in it for sure, not sure if I will do heads or not.

Thanks for any input.

1 7/8" headers for sure. I'd go Kooks, ARH for high end...ARH makes a nice y-pipe with a good merge. Kooks has a nice TD setup now running over the axle but you have to use their headers. Something from Texas speed for more affordable headers. Stay away from the Kooks y-pipe as the merge is horrible.

my car is lowered with ARH pieces. i used 1-3/4 primaries based on the recommendations of ARH.

take a look at my sig.

i have rubbed on the y-pipe on a few high speed bumps. but overall, no issues.

I know my TSP stainless headers tucked extremely well. If you notice the bit of floorboard clearencing in the first pic, it's b/c I'm running Spohn solid motor mounts, which raise your motor approximately half an inch. If I was running Poly, they would have been perfect.

I would recommend our stainless 1 7/8s headers and offroad y-pipe. This setup as
Dr Whigham shows tucks up super nice to keep clearance issues at a minimum.

My texas speed headers tuck up really nice. No issues, however my TD's are very low(tips in particular). I am getting another TA to tuck them up another inch.

Ive installed ARH and TSPs and both have excellent ground clearance, better than the stock y-pipe

I agree with the general consensus. Ebay headers here, tucked up great on my lowered T/A.

I would go with STAINLESS 1 7/8 Long tube headers for better results, personally Kooks are my favorites, Kooks, Texas Speed and Hookers are all very good! You shouldnt have any problems with them touching ground, a lot of members here have those setups with a Y pipe exhaust and they dont have any problems
