Default Exhaust cut out and burnt valves?

I am trying to figure out how close I can mount an exhaust cut out to the engine's exhaust ports without causing issues such as too much of a loss in back pressure, resulting in burnt valves, etc?

Technically speaking, can I run the exhaust cut outs right the headers, essentially as if I was running open headers on the car.

Also, assuming using shorty headers and not long tube headers.

thanks.

I wouldn't run a cut out right off of shorty headers. You may damage your vehicle.

Only reason why I ask, is because I will be putting it on an engine that has a swap, so I am not worried about clearance to the actual body of the car itself, but more so the engine's internals/function.

You have more to worry about the cutouts being too close to the o2 sensors and causing issues there than burning up the valves.

How far away from the o2 sensors would you recommend or is recommended.

It depends on if you are going to use them at the track or on the street too it seems.

Mine are around a foot or more back but a lot of low-mid rpm stuff and the car will surge and run poorly at idle and low speed.

If you intend to run them open a lot on the street I would shoot for no less than 2 feet

Thanks for the info/input. I was planning on using it on the street only every now and then.
