Default Milled 243 heads questions.

Hello guys I came across a set of LPE ported and milled heads on Craig's list. They are milled .070 and I was wondering if they will work with my tape torquer v2 without flycutting the pistons.

Hell No!!

.070" is an *** load to mill 243s! You would have probable PTV clearance issues a .025-.030...Nothing would fit at .070"

Sure he didn't mean .007"? If that case, you should be fine. But you need to check anyways.

Seriously??

If those heads are milled .007" he most likely will NOT have to fly-cut.

Those heads are junk if they are milled .070"

They are NOT junk if they are milled .070. Mine are milled over .100 and work fine, combo in sig.
There are lots of heads out there milled big so I would about guarantee they are milled .07
figure out your compression with a 54cc head

They are. Too thin. Again, you spreading your false hope around here is not welcome. Just because you got away with it does not make it right or safe.

I didn't "get away" with it, its quite common there are piles of lsx heads out there milled .050 or more.
They are far from too thin, you can mill .150 before you get into those problems.
Knowing Wtf you are talking about is not spreading false hope. Get a clue!

Then your spreading false hope...

You're not going to flat mill an ls head much more than around .050 or so before it becomes too thin for comfort. Angle milling is a different story. But I bet you know nothing about that. If you're going to talk about things like that and refute credible limits of a common individual, you need to make that clear. Not spout off about how your setup is running on the ragged edge of disaster and all is well because you got away with it.

I have read .045" is about maximum (Safely),

You also have to consider you're not only cutting the deck so thin you may have sealing issue (or cracks/leaks), but your also talking about cutting the pistons to a unsafe level too. I'm not sure how thick the head of the piston is, but I doubt its that thick.

What fuel is the OP trying to run? Not sure what the compression comes out to be...even with a stock MLS gasket, its above 12-1

you can actually mill those heads to 15 thousands with out PTV clearance. Anything past that will be an issue.

Ask the experts...You may very well be getting away with it....But you are risking it.

What compression do you get with at much milled off? You are running pump gas??
