Default Re-coated Grot Headers *PICS*

I have been wanting to re-ceramic coat my Grot's for years now but never aggressively sought out a shop to do the work. I was randomly searching coated headers on Tech, which I would do from time to time, and stumbled upon a local powder coating shop(they are not sponsers, if you'd like their information please do not hesiate to PM me). So I gave them a call and this is what I ended up with...

Before:

The headers are around 10 years old and are in great shape. However I was tried of seeing the rust spots on them and having AIR tubes.

So I cut off the tubes and welded them closed...

The y-pipe is only about 5 years old and had some surface rust.

After:

The ceramic coating that they used is called Cerakote and the color is Black Velvet.

I knew the pitting on the headers would still be there after the ceramic coat but I still think they came out great.

The y-pipe on the otherhand came out flawless...

I bought new headers bolts awhile ago and have been too lazy to replace them but it seems like they don't fit anyway. They're just a tad bit long, when I have time I'll either remove these and clean them up or upgrade to a stainless set.

Overall I'm very happy with the results. The customer service from the shop was top notch and the pricing was fair. I would love to upgrade to stainless headers but I don't see spending $800+ on headers plus whatever labor it would cost to modify my y-pipe to fit the headers. I hope to get another 10 years out of this coating...

Nice looking setup. Dual 2.5" into 3" on the Y? Nice merge, too

i just got tsp 1 7/8 for 529 plus y like 700. Thete 1 3/4 are only 409 dollars all stainless steel.i went with bigger header because they were out of smaller ones. I think your headers came out great though. Looks like you did homework

They're 1-7/8 headers, 3" y-pipe to a 3.5" i-pipe back.

Here's the details on my exhaust.

Thanks!

I would either go with Kooks or ARH if I were to get new headers, I'd also want a 2" primary so you're looking at $800+.

I never knew that Grott made 1 7/8 headers. Looks great, good luck with it.

Are you measuring the OD or ID because I remember that they only came in 1 3/4. A lot of companies used them as 'inspiration' for their header designs and were 1 3/4 as well. It wasn't until the past 3-4 years that companies started to introduce 1 7/8 headers for the f-bodies.

Honestly I never actually measured the headers but from every Grot thread I've seen they were all 1-7/8"...?
