There are several, but it depends on your budget, goals, and what youre running. I recommend you check out the dyno forum for some ideas. Lots of great technical info and LS gurus on the site. Google searches the site better than the search bar when you start doing specific research.

My combo is a fairly high-end set of stock displacement NA parts with great manners and vicious teeth. It was put together by Tony Mamo who is an R&D guy from AFR (air flow research). I recommend him very highly. There are a lot of combos though, so it just depends.

Good luck and welcome.

228 cam, tea stage 2 243 casting heads, 92 fast intake, boltons, ss3600 stall and 3.73 seems like a good combo on my car.
Your in trumble? new london county here.

Thanks, i have been looking all over. Lots of good info on here. The 98 Z28 i picked up has a lid, ported tb, ported maf, ls6 intake, hot cam, underdrive pulley, long tubes, off road y pipe, mail order tune, 3,400 stall alott of weight reduction and a set of drag radials. Im planning on running a qtp cutout, performabuilt stage 2 4l60e with manual valve body and a 150 wet shot to get it moving a little quicker

Just curious to see what other people are running, what works and what doesnt.
Looking to make it a street/strip car, ultimate goal would be to break into the 10's

Thanks for the responses

Sounds like you need a decent set of heads at this point. For the money I am very happy with my TSP stage 2.5 5.3 heads

Since you have a 98, you will also need to get center bolt valve covers if you are going to get aftermarket heads. I have only seen them at hawks third gen, but other places might have them as well.

and I have the center bolt covers for him if he wants!!!

my 6.0, 243s, Custom EPS cam, carbed, headers is enough "proven" for me to NEVER EVER touch another Gen1 engine again in my life!

op, theres lots of combos that work well, depends on what you are looking for. a good h/c combo or forced induction. I personally would like to run a cammed/procharger set up on my car in the future.

Just a word of advice...dont get a performabuilt tranny, FLT or RPM. I have an flt and its great

I see that you're in trumbull, Im not too far away in milford.

Should have been more specific once again, sorry. Ive been drooling over a TSP heads/MS4 cam package and almost have my hands on a 150 wet shot. Hopefully that will get me into the 10's with some 373's and hook

I was reading the OP's post and thought the same thing. Glad to see I'm not the only one. I had a 4L60E built to FLT 4 specs by a guy who used to work for FLT and it ran awesome. Now it's in a car going 10s on nitrous. OP, do your research on the trans. You will spend a lot of money there--make it count.

I've had a Performabuilt 4L60E behind 3 stroker motors in my GTO. I'm now on my third motor but still have the same transmission. I have nothing but good things to say about Performabuilt and will recommend them to anyone that wants great customer service and a transmission that is built to last.

Many people I've come across that blame transmission vendors don't install them right or don't keep them cool like they should. You can't put a huge stall converter in a car and let it get 250+ degrees and never change the fluid. I change my fluid about every 6 months. This transmission has seen 800lbs of torque to the wheels and it didn't even skip a beat. I've gone 1.3-1.4 60 foots so many times I can't count them. If you don't consider Performabuilt you're doing yourself a huge injustice.

No need for a head swap or a bigger cam. 10s should be no problem adding just a 150 shot to the car as it sits. If the transmission is OK it will live quite a while as long as you don't spray through the 2-3 shift.
