Default 1-3/4 or 1-7/8 headers?

I have a ls6 with big heads and cam and spins 7000-7300rpm and want all the hp I can squeeze out. Which size is best? Is it worth the few hundred extra bucks for 1-7/8?

If you have a Vette, get the LG Super Pros in 1-7/8"; can't do better than LG for the Vette.
