Default NGK TR6 Plugs with N/A setup??

I have a set of NGK TR6 plugs I always use in my Cobra, I can't remember what I used to use in my old F body, I think TR55s? Anyways, from what I read here, TR6 seems to be a popular nitrous plug, but will it run okay on motor with them? I just bought another F body and installing long tubes and want to do plugs while the manifolds are off. I'd rather use these since I have a ton of them, and I do plan to run nitrous in a few months, but will it be okay driving around with these in it for now? Will it spark knock or do anything goofy? It's a stock engine internally with standard bolt ons, longtubes, no cats, stalled, etc.

Yes it'll run fine, you may notice a slight decrease of gas mileage (I did) just gap them appropriately for nitrous that way you don't have to pull them all back out just to change the gap.

I run them in my Trans am with just a little over 11:1. It runs the same as it did with TR55s.

Run them... shouldn't notice a difference in mileage as it wont make a car run any richer and is not cold enough to foul and cause misfires. I sometimes run 7's in hotter NA setups and recommend 6's in any modified or even tuned stock engines.

I ran them once. you will never notice anything from going TR55 to TR6. i tried them all. zero difference in anything. do engine mounts while your exhaust is out. you wont regret it. i wish i did lol.

This engine will only be in the car for this next summer. I'm putting together a bigger motor for it in the background, and at that time it will get a tubular K and all of that junk. This one I'm hoping to last until the end of this next summer or until it lets loose on spray. Whichever comes first.

the only difference between the two is the gap.

Wrong.

Colder heat range. Nothing to do with the gap.

TR6's here in my stock compression 5.3L. Put them in because I'm going FI soon, but I've been running them for a little over a month and they seem okay. No real noticeable difference over the TR55's. My mileage gas gone down a couple points, but there are too many other factors to say it was the plugs.

You should go with tr7's if your going to spray anything over 100. For extra insurance tr8's for 200+ a good rule of thumb imo tr55s for a stock car, tr6s for a bolt on car with maybe a small shot 50-75, tr7s for up to a 175, tr8s for 200 and from there depending maybe another heat range per 75-100 shot.

That's what I have always been told. Step down 1 heat range for every 75-100 shot or full point in compression.

They have an entirely different heat range...you're incorrect. You're probably thinking of TR5 vs TR55. Those are the same plug with a different pre gap. TR6 is a different ball park.

Thanks guys!!

Tr6 would be fine on motor i doubt you will notice a difference between the tr5 and tr6 on the street but I wouldn't use a tr6 plug if you plan on spraying, non projected tip plug like the br6ef or br7ef is what you should look in to but with that said some ppl do spray on tr6 plugs and don't have problems, search the nitrous section and you will see everyone's thoughts on the tr6 and spray lol

I run 6's in any stock based N/A setup. I run 8's in any heavily modified N/A setup, boosted or nitrous, and have been running 8's in my stuff for years.
