Talking Heads only Ls1

I'm waiting to do a heads only motor for my 2002 ws6.
I've done some searching on here and only found one post.

I'm wanting to have my 241's ported. I've heard that ported 241's
and a stock ls1 cam makes a lot of torque and very easy to drive.
I would also have full bolt-ons, and hopefully pat g would be doing the tuning. The car is a m6. Maybe this would be a good little sleeper motor?! Any info would would be great!!

IMO i dont think the work and the cost would be worth it for ported 241's, on a stock camshaft that is.. Never heard of anyone doing a "heads only" set up but im interested to hear otherwise.

Fred, I'd have to agree with the above comment. If you're committed to a head upgrade, with tune, there are plenty of comparable cam upgrades which will bring out the best of the port work, while retaining drivability.

There heads are top notch! and to make decent power with the 241' s he will do you right in achieving your goals. mainly the power will come from compression bump and his cnc valve job. The larger porting really is utilized when trying to move more air which a larger cam will do. have you thought about a ls6 zo6 cam with the Ai 241' s? that would be worth it and still stock driveability but better performance and reallu utilize the heads. Ai can custom grind a zo6 style cam or better and still make it drive exactly like stock. just some things to think about

there dyno show the ls1 cam making more about 20 more fp of tq,
and the ls6 cam had about 10 more hp. i would like a bigger cam,
but you would be able to hear that it has a bigger cam. i'm wanting
to have some cam only guy's wondering what the heck did i just come
across. then just play it off as a bolt-on only car. lol

a after market cam with ported heads can make alot more torque the a stock GM cam.talk to Pat more ,he can help you meet your goals.check out Texas speed for ported heads,$1300.or get some 243/799 heads and add a cam from Pat-G ,you won't regret it.

You can have an aftermarket cam as big as you want and still sound like stock..... it all depends what lsa the cam is. A 116 lsa is around your typical stock sound no lope, a 112 is your typical aftermarket cam that has its typical big cam lope.

read through that his sounds just like stock
