Default can I use a normal tire valve core in the fuel schrader valve?

On my new camaro, it had nitrous on it, I took it off, but now I need a valve core to put in the schrader valve in the fuel rail. I went to a auto parts store but they didn't carry one. Can I use a regular tire valve core? the guy at the autoparts store said it wouldn't work, said the rubber around the valve core would melt in the gas? any idea where to get one if the tire one wont work? thanks for any help.

Nope, won't work. The rubber will deteriorate and you will watch that new car go up in a ball of flames. Don't worry about putting a new schraeder valve in it, put a fuel pressure gauge on the end of the rail. Great for diagnostics and looks cool lol.

Ask the counterman and if they don't have an assortment
of Schrader cores, find another auto parts store.

Now I've been running around with a fuel rail that has a
residential A/C Schrader, outside threaded (with a pipe
die) at the end, screwed into the rail and it's fine. The
seal is plastic, not rubber (has to stand up to hot Freon
and oil).

You could probably also get a valve core removal tool
(bicycle accessories section, anywhere) and get some
from junkyard fuel rails, and use the one that leaks
least.

Just a thought, check out Marshall gauges. 0-60 psi liquid filled fp gauges run about $25-$35 each, do an eBay search for MNB00060 (midnight black with yellow numbering), MNS00060 (midnight black with silver trim ring), or CW00060 (white face with black numbering).

They are pretty inexpensive, could cost ya less than running around to parts stores or a local boneyard and trying various valves.

Good luck in the quest.

Better watch those shitty FP gauges. The adapter fittings can crack and you talk about a fireball. You don't have to take my word but anyone who has had any fitting crack knows what I'm talking about.

And if you're missing the cap it's #214-1044, and #25532662, retail $5.50 .
