Question Do I Need Different Valve Covers?

I currently have a set of crappy 806 heads and will be ordering the Stg.1.0 LS6 heads from TSP. My main worry is that these valve covers will not fit on the new heads. Will they bolt right back on or will i have to also order some new/different valve covers? If i do need new ones, what are some good ones to go with? and where can i get them? I heard something about the 80
6 heads being a 'perimeter bolt head? opposed to like a 241 or 243 center bolt. Is this true or no?

This is true. If you look at your valve covers the bolts that hold it on are on the outside edge of the covers. On the 241/243 heads they run along the center of the valve cover. So yes if you have the perimeter valve covers your will need new ones. I would just call some salvage yards around the area and see if they have any. Or texas-speed or hawksthirdgenparts.com

Ok Thanks. I was on TSP's site and couldn't find anything but I'll call them and see if they have anything. Is there anything else that I'll be needing for this conversion?

Ok cool thanks. Forgot all about that. I found some Holley valve covers but it says,"The valve covers eliminate the need for the factory ignition coil bracket. Instead, the coils bolt directly to the valve covers for a nice angled look! Holley aluminum LS valve covers reuse the factory gaskets and bolts...". Now i just need to find the center bolts. I've got to wait till tomorrow to call Hawks 3rd gen back since they're closed. But I'll check on here first before i place my order

besides this I'd check with gmpartsdirect for the coil brackets.

They list them for about $11 each.

Nice!! I'll definitely check in to that. But I've found some tall? valve cores with the longer necessary bolt, gaskets, and brackets for $89 on eBay. Will there be Fitment issues? Anyone?

There has to be a junk yard that has them. All of the 5.3L, 5.7L and 6.0L (99 and later) stuff should work. Truck or car shouldn't matter. Easy stuff to get but you do have the get the center bolt ones from the 241/243 style heads.
