Lets talk about cats, catalytic converters that is. I plan on building a true dual setup for my 02 z28. My plans are for a fun weekend toy with occasional track use. Full length headers, high flow cats, x pipe, undetermined mufflers, and over the axle. How much flow do I need? I found one site that lists a 400 cell spun converter that flows 450 cfm through a 3" and a 100 cell race converter that flows 598 cfm through a 3". I checked summit's website and didn't find any flow rate data. I understand more is better, but at a $100 difference, how much do I really need for my planned use.

I have cats now on my TDs but have ran them with no cats. Noticed no difference in power, just tone and smell. I will never have a car without cats ever again. They flow so well now there is no excuse to not have them imo.

lol 1995blacktattop! I am not asking if I should run cats Lefty, I am asking what kind of flow rate is needed for my planned goals for the car.

I wouldn't spend the extra money. I doubt there is much difference anyway. Not sure of your hp goals but i made 402whp through my thunderbolt spun metallics. I use mine for the same reasons. Fun weekend car and goes low 12s high 11s all day long.

I'd like to know also. My wife hates the smell and I have my 2nd child on the way and I don't want to put him in my car with the smell. Will one of these converters in the i pipe, after my cutout be enough to get rid of the smell?

They are the thunderbolt cats off ebay. About $80 a piece.

I imagine it would cut down on some of the smell but using two as far upsteam as possible would be better of course.
