Default P/S pump question

So I'm getting a chirp and I've pinned it down to the power steering. Now I haven't really looked at it closely to answer my question since its cold as hell out and supposed to get a bunch of snow tonight, but my question is, are there bearings in the pulley or are the bearings in the pump themselves. Sorry, just don't know that much about power steering. I just want to know if I should change the pulley or just order a pump.

The pulley doesn't have a bearing. The inside of the pump I suppose would have to though. The pulley just presses over the snout on the pump. What kind of "chirp" is it?

Take a look at the pulley location related to the end of the shaft. Belt chirp is a common problem, when the pulley is not pressed onto the shaft til it's flush...BTDT.
Gm recognized that as an issue some yrs ago...

So tightened it up a bit and it got better and now is flush with the shaft but still sqeaks. Thinking I'm just going to have to replace the pump.

First, how did you press it flush? Second, how old is the belt? Depending in your answers, I may recc trying a belt first.

If its just belt chirp its probably not the pump unless its leaking fluid. Just look and make sure all the pulleys are aligned and if they are remove the belt and roll every pulley making sure nothing rolls rough. If everything checks out change the belt. If it still squeeks I would bet its the tensioner. I've swapped tensioners on both of my cars.

I replaced the tensioner, idler, and alternator already. When I spin the power steering pulley, it kinda sounds a little rough

It is possible that the bearing inside the pump has gone. I know mine died in the middle of an auto X session. Turn One makes a GREAT pump replacement.

I will second that!!!

Also, given the **** poor quality of the all of the Sino-made bearings they install into even the Canuck, or U.S. made tensioner/idler pulley bodies nowadays, they could be bad the instant one installs them new, sadly enough.

I wish I could spend that much for the pump right now. But between 9 in, drive shaft, torque arm and other misc parts. Pretty sure the wife would cut my ***** off if I bought that right now
