Default Sand blasting harmonic balancer

is it okay to sand blast your harmonic balancer. a friend of mine told me you can make it come a loose from the rubber. is this true has anyone had this problem

I already did it. The funny part is the sand blaster did two that week

Oh well. What's done is done. The risk is not that the sand blasting will hurt it. The risk is that if the balancer is old/rusted enough to need sand blasting, the rubber is probably old and may have shifted causing the balancer to not run true. Old balancers just don't work for high performance applications.

I wouldn't have done that either. If I was to do something like that, probably would have used a very light media, e.g. baking soda, etc. Depending on how badly it was rusted could be a very good indicator of it either needing to be replaced like mentioned above, or neglect of the car.

Sand will bounce off the rubber. If the rubber is in that bad of shape, you should just replace the balancer.

The rubber looked good. An still does. But if you guy think I should still replace I guess. But it looks great after paint.
