Yep, that's how you do it. As you say, makes for a perfect seal!
With my system on the stock hood, I've gotten water on the floor of the airbox in heavy rain, but the air filter has never been more than slightly wet. Whatever anyone else may say, that's why I use my blockers in heavy rain. Peace of mind.
