Default QTP Y-pipe ?

I have a 2002 Firehawk that I was shopping for LT Headers and Catted y-pipe. I was all set to go with Kooks until I found out the catted y-pipe in not stainless steel. Does anyone know if the QTP catted y-pipe is stainless steel?

I'm pretty sure it is... check out their website (banner's over there)---->
It's also one of the best Y-pipe designs out there.

I checked the website but it only specifically states the LT are SS, no indication of whether the y-pipe is also. I emailed them with a couple questions 2 weeks ago and still have not got a reply from them, so I decided to check this forum

I know when I was getting ready for my new exhaust setup I was looking into a completely stainless system. I spoke with Bassani, and their y-pipe has the option of being purchased in aluminum or stainless. Not sure if you're interested in using their y-pipe, but i thought I'd throw that out there to ya.

Has anyone ever tried to make a QTP Y-Pipe fit Kooks headers? I may also be looking into buying the flowmaster y collector and taking my car to an exhuast shop for a custom y-pipe.

why not get the QTP headers and Y pipe package all together...

the QTPs have a lot more options than the Kooks

they have high velocity collectors available

different types of Y pipes ( i like the dual cutouts one )

and few other thing that i cant remember of the top of my head

i just got my set installed yesterday....they are very very sweet!

To me it doesn't make sense to have Stainless headers, a stainless exhaust and a non stainless y-pipe. Is it just me or is that foolish?

The QTP y-pipe is aluminized steel.

The only reason that te y-pipe wasnt stainless is becasue the flowmaster collector isnt stainless, and they werent gona make the y-pipe out of 2 different things. Also, I thought it was coated.

My QTP Catted Y is made out of aluminized steel along with the Flowmaster Y collector. The design of this Y pipe combined with the Flowmaster Y collector looks to be very free flowing. Any power lost from adding the cats would probably be made up with the better flow abilities of the Flowmaster Collector. It was a PIA to install and my muffler shop had to make a new piece to fit the driver's side header collector as the QTP supplied pipe would not clear my subframe connectors and transmission cross brace. Overall It's not worth the $500 as far as Finish @ Fit IMO but I don't know if the Kooks Catted Y fits any better as their is not a whole lot of room under there for a 3" Y pipe @ Highflow Cats.

Our y pipe is aluminized for a couple of reasons. First the flowmaster y collector is aluminzed. It would not make sense to make the piping out of stainless and the collector out of aluminized. Second, the cost of stainless steel is 2-3 times more expensive. I would have made one of of stainless but the price would be out of reach for most people.
