Default worth switching from 85mm to FAST92

im currently running a 85mm intake and tb with all the mods in my sig. i will also be running nitrous this year. i know the 85mm is better then the ls6, but the 92/92 setup is better then the typhoon.

...but...is the FAST setup better enough to justify the $5-700 difference of buying a 92/92 then selling mine?

Once I went 92/92 I never looked back. If you can sell your throttle body/intake combo for 300 or around there and pick up a used fast setup for 800 I'd say go for it. 500 bucks for a 92/92 is definitely worth it in my opinion. Plus it looks so much better than the typhoon

im not to worried on the looks aspect of it. im only worried about weather or not the performance gains is actually worth it. and i dont think i can pick up a 92/92 for 800...most of the intakes alone go for around that price let alone the tb.

Well then I guess you answered your own questions. Performance gains from a 92/92 aren't all that incredible when upgrading from a stock ls1 intake. I don't see how you'll benefit from trading the typhoon setup considering its only another 7mm...

I strongly disagree there. There is an easy 20+ HP difference between the ls1 intake and the Fast. It also allows for a much better power band (especially with a cam).

There is also a lot more to intakes than the TB opening size. I wouldn't be the least bit shocked to see a Fast 78mm intake make the same or slightly more power than an 85mm intake due to overall better runner design and plenum volume.

If it was as easy at bigger TB openings, FAST would have some serious competition in the low profile lsx intake market by now.

I think the front orifice is not that significant and the
quality of the runner design is everything. People talk
bad about the Pro Products intakes but I haven't seen
a direct flow-bench or on-motor comparo.

You could be the first!
