Default Chrs1313 Ram Air or Sealed WS6 Hood?

Hey all,

I'm trying to decide if I should just seal my WS6 hood to the factory ram air lower airbox or get the Chrs1313 ram air inlet?

Would it make a difference?

I dont have any experience with a WS6 but the chrs1313 is a very nice piece. The non ac version can really move some air, its a straight shot up to your lid. There are many satisfied chrs1313 owners. I picked up a tenth or 2 Id say

The chris system is more effective from what the tests results have shown on here.

That's what I figured. Seems like you could draw a lot more air from under the car. I would get the A/C version. Is there much difference?

I went with the a/c version of the SSRA, and I honestly feel a little difference up top. Maybe it's just better throttle response, but either way the car seems more snappy like if you will at the higher speeds.

Its just a little thinner (3/4" to 1" roughly Id guess) because there isnt as much room there when the condensor is still in place. And yes, you def feel a difference in throttle response with these types of ram air's

Good to know. Any little bit will help. I have pretty much no restriction from the filter back as it sits.

You have the scoops. I say use them. You don't have to hack anything else up, and it's direct shot into the airbox once the baffles are out and it's sealed up.

Yeah, it'd be easy enough. I guess I can try it, see if it does anything. If not, add the Chrs1313 and compare (either/or and both together).

I built a pretty sweet setup for my ws6 hood. I debaffled it and bought some 1" foam strip and aluminum c channel (cost me like $30 for everything from amazon) Seals up tightly and sealed all holes in the hood. There are a couple of big holes near the hood latch.

Any pics of this setup?

Ok pictures to come cost me $27.87 to build. A couple of rivets and some gorilla glue.

Had to run the C channel through my table saw to cut it down some and secured it with rivets. I glued the foam on with Gorilla Glue.

I cut another piece of C Channel down and secured it to the front of the air box. It makes contact with the hood to seal the bottom up. The strip on the bottom is offset a little to the right because the nostrils of the hood didnt exactly line up with the air box and I wanted a tight seal around the air box.

I did get a new best mph at the track after doing it 121mph and I still need some tuning work to lean it out a bit.

This is version 1.0 and could be made to look a little better. I sealed up the big holes in the hood with some aluminum tape when i hit the track. I plan on filling them in with some body filler eventually.

The WS6 hood I had on my 01 T/A was VFN (aftermarket), but I just used weatherstripping with adhesive backing on all four sides of the opening. By taking the grilles off with the hood closed, I determined that it sealed up flush to the airbox. I couldn't have had a more direct flowpath of cold air.
