Default LS3 water pump on LS1 with F-body FEAD?

I've searched and searched, but i can't find an answer!

My LS1's water pump is headed out. The engine is swapped into a Porsche 944 and i'd rather have the space on the front of the engine that a later pump like the LS2 and LS3 have. I picked up a new pump off ebay that claimed "LS1/LS2/..." but it is actually an LS3/LS7 pump ('09-11).

It looks like everything is mostly the same and from my research i know it will bolt up, but i haven't actually been able to find anyone who says "i put an ls3 water pump on my ls1 with f-body accessories and here's what i did".

From my measurements it looks like it just needs a 3/4" spacer, but that's another $80, so i thought i'd check here first. The other option is to just return the pump and spend another $80 on an LS2 pump, but apparently the LS3 had some improvements so it seems like it might be worth making it work...

Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

That's where I got mine. Just pick up the new style WP gaskets with it (those aren't included).

Damn, wish i had known that before! I paid $150 for this LS3 pump. :/

The LS2 pump also requires spacers, but only about 1/4", is that correct? Or moving the pulley out a bit...

Our pump won't require any spacers, it works with f-body accessories.

Re: LS3 pump: Eh, the usual...nothing the butt dyno would notice, but apparently it has lower rotating mass, it's a few pounds lighter, and some think it has an improvement in cooling flow.

Scoggin Dickey has take off LS2 pumps from the GTO. GTO uses the same serpentine acc belt as the F-Body.

Would you mind posting a link or part number? I was not able to find the water pump on sdparts.com. I'm searching by year/make/model for a 2000 Pontiac Firebird. I was not able to specify that it is a Firebird Formula, and there is no option for a Trans Am. I also tried using a 2000 Chevrolet Camaro.

The search returns only one electric water pump (Item #: MRG4333). I considered buying that pump but it doesn't appear to fit F bodies?
